MARITIME HISTORY OF CATALONIA



Maritime History (Britain)

Ships and the sea are very important in Britain. Britain once had the biggest navy in the world. Even today, many ships are used for exporting and importing goods containers. Some people also travel by ship to go on holiday or for business. The Queen Mary 2 is a very big cruiser ship. It sails from Southampton to New York. You can visit a museum of maritime history in Liverpool. There are ships in the docks. Inside you can find out about life on sailing ships. Young men had to climb rigging to put up the sails. This was a dangerous job


Maritime History Catalonia (Spain)

In Barcelona (Catalonia/Spain) we have one museum of Maritime History. This museum contains models from the earliest galleys to the cargo and passenger vessels.
There you can learn everything about navigation and shipping in Catalonia and rest of country. Is located very close to the Port Vell,just behind Colon's Monument.
Cristoval Colon, he went from Barcelona to America with a Catalan Boat.

Last week, I couldn't go to school because I broken my leg. I go to the hospital and said 'You should staying in the bed for three days. You shouldn't do any exercise. Now I feel fine, so I can go back to school again tomorrow, but I shouldn't run or go cycling for there weeks.

Computers

Computers are now a very important part of live in Britain. Many people have got a personal computer. Young people love playing games. Computers will control the way we live, in smart homes. They can adjust the temperature; close the bilds, act as burglar alarm and even turn on the overn. The will be television and Internet neckets in every room. Sre computers talking ever our lives?

Transport in London

Trains are very important for people who live in the suburbs.
The docklands light railway trains are controlled by computers.
Different types of transport link up quite well.
Taxis and buses move quickly because they can go in spacial lanes.

eighty% of all food and drink comes from the five biggest supermarkets. Tesco has got nearly two thousend shop in Britain. It is the third biggest supermarket in the world. Most people in Briain buy their clothes from two of the big supermarkets

Soap operas

Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale are all very popular soap operas on British TV. They appear several watch a week and millions of people fans them.
Every of the shows can also buy special soap opera magazines previous week. In the magazine, they can read are of next week's shows. In their scenes from Emmerdale, the villagers celebrating a birthday, when there is a terrible storm.

Scotland

Scotland is one of the four main regions of Britain. It occupies about 9% of the total land area in Britain. Mostpeople live in the contry. Scotland has got some unusual traditions. Scottish men sometimes wear kild rather than trousers. There is a traditional Scottish instrument called the bagpipes. Scotland is famous for the whisky. Whisky is a strong spirit made from barley, yeast ans water.

Horror stories

horror stories are very popular in Britain. Two famous horror story: Frankenstain's monster and Dracula were created by British writers. Bram Stoker thought of the tomb of Dracula when he was sitting in a cementery. He saw some sunlight fall on a crack in the lid of a tomb and he imagined that the light might wake up the dead body inside. Some fans of horror stories caracters taking a guided tour around London.
